Happy Wellness Wednesday everyone! I hope you have had a great week so far!! It has been cooler and sunny in Michigan lately, and I have been loving every moment (mainly because it kind of feels like fall)!!
With Doug and I beginning our new careers, I have been focusing on how to make each morning as successful as possible so the rest of the day follows in suit! I wanted to share 12 of my favorite daily habits that I believe have actually changed my life in the best way, and I believe they will change yours too! I’m also going to be sharing a morning routine very soon, so make sure you’re following my YouTube Channel so you don’t miss out!!
Hydrate/Lemon Water
I know most people reach for a hot cup of coffee in the morning, but before relying on the caffeine try drinking a warm cup of water with freshly squeezed lemon! Lemon water will help to wake you up faster, it will freshen your breath, it will aid your digestive system, and it will help reduce hunger cravings! If lemon water isn’t your thing, try a glass of iced water or hot tea (my favorite)!
Get Some Sleep
Most of us function best off of 8 hours of sleep, and while that may seem like it’s impossible try adjusting your sleeping habits! If you’re someone who gets up early for work, try going to bed earlier the night before! Make it a habit to go to bed a little bit earlier every night, and eventually you’ll be on a sleep schedule that works for you! Getting the right amount of sleep will help you focus better, you’ll feel refreshed and energized in the morning, and I guarantee you’ll feel much more successful!
AM Exercise
Whether it’s a sweaty gym session, a morning walk (maybe with your pup), or a 10 minute yoga session in your living room, try to get your body moving in the morning! Doug and I like to hit the gym before our work day begins, and there is truly nothing better! Exercise releases positive endorphins (which will make you feel happy!), it boosts your energy levels, and it increases your brain health and memory! Plus, it makes you feel confident and proud of yourself, and who doesn’t want to start their day with a boost of confidence?!
Drink Your Fruits & Veggies
Start your morning by blending up your favorite fruits and veggies, and enjoy a healthy smoothie or smoothie bowl! Fruits and veggies will boost your energy and immune system, it will improve your digestion, and your skin will be glowing! Add some protein powder into your smoothie for a post-workout recovery or to bulk up your smoothie to help you feel full! Try adding spinach or kale to your favorite fruit smoothie for extra nutrients, you won’t even taste it!! I’m going to be sharing my favorite smoothie recipes very soon, in the meantime check out one of my favorite Green Smoothie recipes, 3 Summer Smoothie Recipes, & my favorite acai bowl recipe that is gluten free, dairy free and vegan!
Schedule Your Day
You all know my obsession with planning and organization, but seriously I rely on my planners to help me survive on a daily basis! Every morning (or the night before) sit down and plan out your day from your morning workout to when your nighttime routine begins! Plan out any and everything that you want to remember, and jot down things throughout the day that are important! Knowing your schedule will prepare you for what your day holds, and maybe you can schedule in some time to grab lunch with a friend, stop by a coffeeshop, or take some time to relax!
Don’t Snooze
I believe that this is the hardest tip of them all, because I am possibly THE worst when it comes to snoozing my alarm! If you can, try getting out of bed the first time that your alarm goes off! This will allow your sleep cycle to end naturally, and you won’t be in and out of light sleep which will most likely make you feel more tired! I’ve been getting better at this, and I used to snooze my alarm for literally over an hour so give it a try!! π
Review Your Goals
We all have goals that we are working towards, set your focus on those goals every morning before you head to work! Whether it’s a side hustle, a new career path, or an overall life change, keep your goals in mind on the daily and use those goals to push you farther in your work! I have my five year goals written out that I look at and add to constantly, and I always smile and feel encouraged after reading through them!
Let The Light In
Now that Doug and I moved in to our new apartment, one of my favorite things to do is to leave the blinds open constantly (we’re 27 stories up, so thankfully no one is looking in to our place)! Open up your blinds first thing in the morning and let the morning light in, I guarantee it will make you feel happy and inspired for the day! Nature is a beautiful gift to us, utilize your surroundings to make your day even better!
Make Your Bed
I once read an article that said that making your bed in the morning is something that all successful people do, and I have been hooked ever since! By making your bed, you’re starting your morning by accomplishing a task that most people find daunting! I know personally when I make my bed I feel like I have my life together, and there’s nothing better than coming home to a nice cozy bed ready for you to jump in to!
Inspire Yourself
It’s too easy to start off your workday feeling uninspired and unmotivated for the day, so try to find something that inspires your soul and makes you excited about the day! I always like to think of three positive things when I first wake up in the morning, and I focus on finding the positives throughout the day! Inspire yourself to accomplish a lingering task, check off your to-do list, or bring coffee to co-workers, and let the positive energy flow!
Lay Out Your Outfit
You’ve probably heard this a million times, but lay out your outfit the night before! It will save you SO much time in the morning, especially if you’re like me and you can’t ever decide what you want to wear when you’ve snoozed your alarm and have five minutes to get ready! Check the weather, plan out a cute outfit that you feel confident in, and you’ll be ready to go in the morning!
Smile!
It’s a beautiful morning, you’re happy to be alive, and it’s going to be a great day!! Smile, because you have so much to be grateful for and the day has so much in store for you! Starting your day with a smile, and even some laughs, will start your day with some positive energy and a little bit of brightness!
