Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you have had a beautiful week so far!
I’ve been a little MIA lately, and that’s because Doug and I took a trip to Michigan’s upper peninsula to celebrate his 22nd birthday! We packed up the car for a nine hour road trip, and had so much fun exploring some of his favorite spots in Michigan! There’s truly nothing better than discovering new places with your best friend, and I cannot wait for more adventures to come!
This was my first time camping in a tent, and I must say there is something so charming and cozy (and thankfully waterproof!) about it! Listening to the sounds of nature and the crackling fire are some of the best sounds, and the entire experience was absolutely beautiful! I loved it!!
To begin our adventure, we pitched a tent in Mackinaw City! We took a ferry over to Mackinac Island the following day, and spent the afternoon tandem biking, hiking, and devouring the famous homemade fudge and caramel apples! We didn’t stay too long in Mackinaw City, but I am excited to visit again someday!
Up to the Porcupine Mountains we go! We packed up for another six hour drive, and admired the beautiful scenery the entire way up!
Summit Peak, the most beautiful overlook of the Porcupine Mountains!
I’m always on the hunt for fall, so I couldn’t resist!! After all, it’s the best time of the year! 😉
Our favorite destination of the trip was visiting the Lake of the Clouds! This was one of Doug’s favorite places when he was younger, and it was the very first place he took me when we arrived to the Porcupine Mountains! The view was unbelievable, and we watched the sunset while exploring around the cliffs!
The next day we visited Presque Isle, and hiked a few miles through the waterfalls! We decided to stray from our designated trail during this adventure, and climbed down to the base of the waterfalls! 100% worth it!
We definitely ate our weight in s’mores during our trip, and finished each day’s adventure with a campfire that would burn for hours! The perfect end to each day!
“fall in love with your solitude”
This seemed to be a recurring theme for me during our time in the mountains! I wanted to take a step back and detox my mind, body and soul, and enjoy every moment of our trip! Taking breaks from the “real world” is so necessary in order to refresh yourself, and this was the perfect trip to take before heading into my senior year!
Thank you all for sticking with me lately, the summer always seems to be a little bit of a down period for me! I am someone who thrives off of being in a routine and being busy, and I have had a little too much down time during the past few months! I am excited to say that I am finally back on track; with blogging, fitness, and generally as a whole! Also! I will be posting a travel vlog on my YouTube channel documenting all of our adventures from this trip, so definitely keep an eye out for that!! 🙂 I hope you all have a wonderful day!
Love & Good Vibes
