Happy Wellness Wednesday everyone!! I hope you had the most beautiful long weekend, and are having a lovely day so far!
Since the semester is officially in full swing, I wanted to share some of my favorite tips to staying fit during the school year! Fitting in a workout isn’t always easy, but it’s one of the best things that you can do for your body! Staying “fit” doesn’t just refer to being physical, it also refers to being mentally fit as well. A healthy body starts with a healthy mind, so taking care of yourself both mentally and physically is key! Also, definitely make sure to stay in touch because I’ll be sharing my updated workout routine for fall next week!!
Sleep
Sleep is one of the most important things for your body! Sleeping not only helps you feel better overall, but it also increases your ability to focus and perform tasks! Try going to bed a little earlier if you have a early morning ahead, and try to stay away from technology at least one hour before you go to bed for a more restful sleep!
Stay Hydrated
Hydration promotes a healthy mind and a healthy body! Try starting each morning with a glass of water (or two oversized mugs of hot tea, in my case!), and bring a reusable water bottle with you throughout the day! Adding in a few slices of lemon and a few mint leaves will add both flavor and nutrients to your water, and adding some ice will help keep you refreshed and focused! My favorite water bottles are the S’well water bottles, and the Lilly Pulitzer water bottles!
Eat Well
What you put into your body is what you get out of your body, which is why healthy eating is so important! Don’t get me wrong I’m all for indulging here and there, but eating well is going to give you energy and a positive mindset that lasts throughout the entire day! Try planning out your meals in advance, and making meals at home rather than buying pre-packaged meals or fast food! But seriously, don’t forget to treat yo’self every once in a while! 😉
Join a Club
Joining a sports team, a club, and/or an online community are great ways to stay motivated to workout! You are surrounded by like-minded individuals, and you’ll most likely enjoy exercising because you’re with friends and people who inspire you! This year I chose to join our CHAARG chapter on campus, and I cannot wait to start getting involved!! I also purchased a pass for all of our fun exercise classes on campus, as well as a membership to my favorite hot yoga studio!
Stay Motivated & Inspired
Some days you just want to come home, eat, and lay in bed until the following morning (believe me, I’ve been there!), but staying motivated and inspired is going to benefit you the most during your fitness journey! Treat yourself after accomplishing a workout, and allow yourself to feel proud and excited! Going to the gym or a class isn’t always easy, so utilize workouts and exercises that you can do at home or outside! You can do anything that you set your mind to, so make the decision to start!!
…
I cannot even express how much I have missed all of you, as well as creating content for Simply Tess! During these past few months I hit a little bit of a rut, and I was just feeling a little overwhelmed and stressed. Now I am back into a routine and in a much more positive mindset, and I am truly ecstatic to be creating and sharing content once again!! Not to mention, fall and winter are my absolute favorite times of the year, so this cooler Michigan weather has be beyond excited!! Thank you all so much for continuously staying with me, and for always being so loving and supportive! Get ready to see me three times a week once again with tons of new content and a few exciting announcements! I hope you have an absolutely beautiful day!

Keeping a fitness routine was so hard in college. I was a theatre major working on an art minor so I was always in rehearsal or out shooting photos or any other number of things. I’m glad you’re sharing this guide with other students so people can avoid the dreaded Freshman 15!
